July 2019: SME National Business Awards – Website of the Year Finalist
Our new website launched in April 2019, enabling us to reach specific audiences in an engaging way.

July 2019: SME National Business Awards – Apprentice of the Year Finalist
Our Apprentice Chef, Jamie, brings a lot to Rossie, and has achieved his qualification one year in advance.

June 2019: UNICEF Rights Committed Silver Award
Independent international validation that Rossie is committed to respecting the rights of our young people, and placing them at the centre of decision making and service development/design. The Silver Award recognises Rossie to be Rights Aware and fully committed to working towards achieving the Gold Award.

June 2019: Scottish Education Awards – Teacher of the Year Finalist
Our English teacher, Vikki, was shortlisted for the Teacher of the Year category at Education Scotland’s annual Awards, which took place in June 2019. This is a genuine reflection of the outstanding work Vikki does with our young people on a daily basis.

June 2019: The Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society Gold Medal – Pallet Garden competition
Our ‘Josh’s Kitchen Garden’ concept achieved a Gold Award at the Gardening Scotland competition. The design was focused on a young person’s experience of the Eco-School, as well as their experience in the kitchen and how these two experience linked together.

March 2019: Commitment to the Scottish Business Pledge
As part of the Pledge, Rossie have been recognised for various areas including our commitment to workforce engagement, investing in our young people and paying the Real Living Wage to our employees. Rossie are committed to delivering all nine elements of the pledge, evidencing that we are a forward thinking organisation.

Dec 2018: Get Set Beacon School Award
As part of the Get Set Legacy Network from London Olympics 2012, Rossie has been successful in becoming one of the 44 National Beacons Schools across the UK. Rossie is now a registered Level 1 Mountain Biking Centre School in Scotland. This award will help young people and staff become more active, increase physical activities and support our young people in developing leadership skills.

Nov 2018: Nature of Scotland Awards (SNH) – “Awakening a Secret Wood”
Independent national validation that Rossie is committed to young people, staff and the wider community by looking after our environment and maintaining a tranquil setting to visit, live and work.

Sept 2018: Association of Scottish Business Woman National Award – CEO chosen from national competition as: “Professional of the Year” 2018
Independent national validation of the CEO’s excellent leadership of the organisation.

Aug 2018: Montrose Horticultural Society
Several first, second, and third prizes for fruit and vegetables in annual show – local evidence of commitment to, and engaging young people in healthy diet.

July 2018: The Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society Silver Medal – Pallet Garden competition
Winning entry – ‘From Pallet to Palette’, Rossie’s first ever entry to the ‘All You Can Eat’ competition. National evidence of commitment to, and engaging young people in healthy diet.

July 2018: CREATE 18 – Year of the Young Person
Independent national validation of staff’s and young peoples’ ability to work effectively together in winning funding. Independent evidence of how we develop our young people and include them in developing and improving our services.

July 2018: Kew Gardens – Jasmine’s Garden (funding)
Full funding for ‘magical’ sensory garden designed by young person. Element of funding from Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, resulting in Rossie being the only recipient in Scotland of two Kew Awards in 2018. National evidence of our commitment to inclusion.

June 2018: Saltire Awards and Rewards for Hours Achieved in Volunteering
Nationally recognised Saltire Awards helps young people at Rossie reflect on, capture and communicate their learning and development gained through their volunteering experiences. It provides opportunities for young people and staff to be engaged in purposeful and meaningful activities together across communities.

May 2018: John Muir Trust Award – Wild Places (Discover, Explore, Conserve, Share)
Nationally recognised Award helps young people at Rossie reflect on, capture and communicate their outdoor learning and development experiences. It provides opportunities for young people and staff to be engaged in purposeful and meaningful activity together across communities.

May 2018: SQA Qualification Verification
Rossie’s Training Centre met a ‘High Confidence’ level assessed against the new quality assurance framework. This evidences Rossie’s on-going commitment to career long professional learning for all staff

April 2018: SQA Systems Verification
Rossie’s Training Centre achieved recognition for ‘Significant strengths’ in all areas of the staff support and management framework. . This reflects the continued review / improvement of Policy and Practice Standards within the workforce and staff development.

Feb 2018: Grow Wild/Kew Gardens
Rossie’s first grant from Kew Gardens, to develop innovative facilities for young people within Rossie’s grounds. National recognition of innovation.

Feb 2018: Scotland Excel – Innovation
