We employ the ‘Getting it Right for Every Child’ framework into our care planning and ensure the young person’s placement plan is in accordance with their individual needs. We also form links with Local Authorities via our respected Throughcare service, further helping our young people prepare for their future.

Our Care, Health and Education staff are registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), Health and Care professionals Council, Nursing and Midwifery Council and the General Teaching Council.

Our care services are inspected by the Care Inspectorate.

Our Education services are inspected by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education.

Our young people also have a direct say in improving the design of secure care for future residents. We continuously educate our young people about their rights and how they can access them in line with the United Nations Convention the Rights of the Child. Our contact with Who Care? Scotland ensures appropriate access to an independent advocacy service.

We involve parents and families of our young people as much as we can from the very beginning of their time in our care.

When a young person is welcomed into Rossie, parents and carers are invited to attend the first meeting that takes place with their social worker and a variety of our staff. The purpose of this meeting is to commence the relationships that will be a significant part of the young person’s development.

As an employer, Rossie is one of the largest in Montrose. We recruit with an aim to create and sustain employment opportunities. In addition to this, we focus on developing our staff continuously to maintain our multi-disciplinary workforce. We are a Scottish Qualifications Authority approved organisation, which allows us to utilise our Training Centre for the benefit of our staff. We provide our staff with the appropriate support to gain qualifications, through our Learning Partnership agreement. Our staff have opportunity to attend meetings, seminars and workshops, both internally and externally, helping to promote partnerships and connections while learning.

We drive innovation in our motivation to continuously grow and improve. Recent advancements within Rossie include our Hair and Beauty Salon – helping gain connections with the local college, and our Dance studio – collaborating with local Dance charities Showcase The Street and Shaper Caper. Some of our young people were performing at the historic opening of the V&A Museum, Dundee.

We invest into our rural surroundings, providing our young people with education and guidance on how to look after our environment. This has resulted in various projects, including the construction of walk and cycle paths, which have positively impacted the local community.
