Rossie’s Orchard

By March 27, 2023 No Comments

Following a successful bid to ScotMid’s Community Orchard Campaign and sales of Christmas craft, we have doubted the number of trees being planted in our orchard.  This is another step in the path to grow more and more of the produce that we eat at Rossie.

Over the past few weeks Young People and Staff have been working on our first Rossie orchard – 28 fruit trees, consisting of 21 varieties of apple, plum, pear & cherry have been planted in the wildflower meadow.  Not only will this provide us with our own healthy fruit it will also be beneficial to many species of pollinators i.e. bees.  Varieties have been carefully chosen and consist mainly of heritage trees all with their own story which we hope we can involve education to research.
