Rossie Young People’s Trust in partnership with The Wood Foundation

By February 10, 2025 No Comments

The Wood Foundation introduced the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) to Scotland in 2008. The YPI is an active citizenship programme, and supports young people develop a range of skills in research, teamwork and of course the competitive process in bidding for a grant of £3000 for their favourite charity.

Recently three of our young people prepared individual business cases to identify a charity that was special to them. They had to develop, cost and present their project to a panel. They also had to explain why their project was important to them, why it deserved to receive the grant and how the money would make a positive difference to people’s lives.  The panel consisted of a representative from the Wood Foundation and members of Rossie staff.

The judges were extremely impressed by our young people’s level of knowledge of their chosen charity and the associated social issues. After much discussion and debate, the panel chose the Apex Scotland project as the beneficiary to secure the grant of £3000 – a most deserving charity.

Our partnership with the Wood Foundation provides new and exciting opportunities to, and for our young people – it ensures all of our young people who participate in the YPI are winners.
