Getting in shape for 2021

By January 5, 2021 No Comments

At Rossie, we thought that after the Christmas festivities, the start of 2021 would be the ideal time to launch our new Outdoor Gym, perfect for our young people to keep healthy and get fitter. And as it was their idea, we know it will be well used in the months ahead.

Expert medical advice from the UK Chief Medical Officers state that young people ought to do at least sixty minutes of physical activity per day, as lack of exercise contributes to a sedentary lifestyle and ill health. Regular exercise helps to lower the risk of obesity, diabetes, heart disease and some cancers.

The benefits of regular activity can include:

  • Increasing energy levels, making it easier for young people to learn and concentrate during lessons.
  • Scientists recommend outdoor exercise as a positive way of getting your vitamin D through sunlight
  • Helps young people to sleep better at night. Research has highlighted the benefits of exercise in improving sleep patterns.
  • Young people who enjoy sports and exercise from a young age, tend to stay active throughout their lives.

Here’s to a healthy, active, fit and safe New Year.
