Purple Friday 2022

By February 25, 2022 No Comments

Today, Rossie is celebrating and educating about ‘Purple Friday’, where we stand together to pledge our support for equality, and to stand up against hate and prejudice. Purple represents the spirit of the LGBT community, and this year’s theme is ‘Passing the Torch’ – https://www.purplefriday.org/

‘Pass the Torch’ around Scotland can be by walking, running, biking, swimming or any exercise. At Rossie, our young people have a torch which we will pass around on our activities throughout the day. They’ll be getting creative, making posters or leaflets to showcase all they’ve learned, and to show their support via their Activity Packs full of information leaflets and activities. We will have posters promoting the day, asking everyone to wear purple in support, a ‘Purple Quiz’, the ‘Blind Tasting Purple Food Challenge’, and a ‘Purple TikTok’ as a bit of fun.

Our LGBT flags will be doing the rounds for everyone sign their support, and purple T-shirts have been given to all our young people onto which they can add their own messages of support.

This year we are delighted that Jimmy Hunter from the Terrence Higgins Trust will be with us, speaking to our young people about acceptance, inclusion, equality & diversity & tolerance.

Check out our Twitter and Facebook channels through the day to see more.
